Tech Tools

Exploring different tech tools this week was so fun! There are so many available that at times it can be overwhelming. The tech tools that I chose to explore this week were Book Creator app, Doink Green Screen app, and Pic Collage app. I liked that Book Creator had a free version. I know cost can be a factor for many educators. Additionally, the app was easy to use and navigate. Younger students will need modeling, but after they have used it a couple of times, they will be able to use it independently. The use of this app will promote student creativity. Students are designing their own book so students will be invested and engaged. I did not like that there is not a way to share a link to view students' digital book creations. Students will have to login to showcase their digital book. I liked Doink Green Screen because of the endless creativity possibilities that it affords students. Eportfolio Tools

This week has been a week full of learning for me. I have heard of eportfolios before, but I have never had one of my own. After researching them and learning about them last week, this week I was able to build on what I learned. Reflecting about what to include in eportfolios, and researching useful tools that could help me create a quality eportfolio was helpful for me. These collections of works give a deeper look at the individual and are more than just a quiz or test that only allows a glimpse of one’s capabilities. Portfolios are valuable because they show an individual’s accomplishments, skills, and growth. Personally, an electronic portfolio would be more meaningful and relevant to my academic and professional goals. Some of my coursework has been focused on technology so an electronic portfolio would allow me to showcase my strengths in this area. A blog is a discussion or informational website posted on the world wide web that consists of informal diary-style entries or posts (Wikipedia, 2021). I used Wikipedia to assist me with a formal definition.  After learning the definition of a blog, I began to research different blog sites. I looked at Wix, Blogger, Weebly, and Word Press. They are all great options. Each site has a free option, which is nice if you are just getting started. In addition, you are able to add images and videos to each one. There is limited storage for the free versions. I have used Weebly in the past for a different course. It wasn't as user friendly. There was a lot of formatting that I did using that blog site, and I felt like I spent extra time there. I chose to go with Blogger for my blog site. I have used it in the past, and it has been my top choice for blogging. I think the ease of use a huge plus. It is simple to add videos or visuals to this site too.
